1. Introduction and Acceptance

Welcome to ChronoFace, an analog watch face application for Wear OS developed as a Kotlin Multiplatform project. These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the ChronoFace application ("App") available on the Google Play Store.

By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not install or use the App. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User") and the developer ("Developer").

 

2. Description of the App

ChronoFace is a Wear OS watch face application that provides the following features:

• A skeuomorphic analog clock face with customizable background themes (Deep Navy, Midnight Black, Dark Forest, Deep Crimson, and custom hue)

• Smooth-sweep seconds hand with approximately 60 frames per second animation

• Three information complications displaying weather temperature, day of week, and date

• Digital time overlay in the lower portion of the watch face

• Single-tap access to a settings overlay for colour and display customisation

• Optional weather data integration using the OpenWeatherMap API, requiring location access

 

 

3. License to Use

3.1 Grant of License

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, the Developer grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to download and use the App solely for your personal, non-commercial purposes on Wear OS devices that you own or control.

3.2 Restrictions

You may not:

• Copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the App

• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the App

• Remove or alter any proprietary notices or labels on the App

• Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws

• Use the App in any way that could damage, disable, or impair the App or servers

 

4. Privacy and Data Collection

4.1 Location Data

The App may request access to your device's location (GPS) solely for the purpose of displaying localised weather information on the weather complication. Location data is:

• Used only to query current weather conditions from the OpenWeatherMap API

• Never stored permanently on the device beyond the current session

• Never transmitted to the Developer's servers

• Never shared with third parties beyond the OpenWeatherMap API call

4.2 Weather Data

If you enable weather functionality, the App uses the OpenWeatherMap API to retrieve weather data. Your location coordinates are sent to OpenWeatherMap in accordance with their privacy policy (openweathermap.org/privacy-policy). The Developer does not collect, store, or process this data.

4.3 No Personal Data Collection

ChronoFace does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data beyond what is described in sections 4.1 and 4.2 above. No user accounts are required. No analytics or crash reporting SDKs are embedded in the App.

4.4 Preferences Storage

Your app preferences (selected theme, settings) are stored locally on your device using Android DataStore. This data never leaves your device and is deleted when you uninstall the App.

 

5. Third-Party Services

The App optionally integrates with the following third-party service:

5.1 OpenWeatherMap

Weather data is provided by OpenWeatherMap (openweathermap.org). Use of weather features is subject to OpenWeatherMap's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. The Developer is not responsible for the accuracy, completeness, or availability of weather data provided by this service.

To use weather features, an API key for OpenWeatherMap is required. You are responsible for obtaining your own API key and complying with OpenWeatherMap's usage terms and rate limits.

5.2 Google Play Services

The App is distributed through the Google Play Store. Your use of Google Play is governed by Google's Terms of Service. Location services on Wear OS are provided by Google Play Services.

 

6. Required Permissions

The App requests the following Android permissions:

• Location (optional) — used only to fetch weather data for the temperature complication. You may deny this permission; weather will display a placeholder value. ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION / ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION:

• Boot receiver — used to restore the watch face after device restart. RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED:

No other permissions are requested. All permission requests are explained in-app before being requested.

 

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

• Implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose

• Warranties that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses

• Warranties regarding the accuracy or reliability of weather data displayed

• Warranties that defects will be corrected

The Developer does not warrant that the App will be compatible with all Wear OS devices or all versions of the Wear OS operating system.

 

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THE DEVELOPER BE LIABLE FOR ANY:

• Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages

• Loss of data, profits, goodwill, or other intangible losses

• Damages resulting from your use or inability to use the App

• Damages resulting from inaccurate weather data or loss of location access

This limitation applies regardless of the theory of liability (contract, tort, negligence, or otherwise), even if the Developer has been advised of the possibility of such damages. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitations of liability, so the above limitations may not apply to you.

 

9. Updates and Changes

9.1 App Updates

The Developer may release updates to the App from time to time. Updates may add new features, fix bugs, or change existing functionality. Continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of any revised Terms accompanying that update.

9.2 Changes to These Terms

The Developer reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated through the App's Play Store listing or within the App itself. The effective date at the top of this document will be updated to reflect the date of the most recent revision.

 

10. Intellectual Property

The App, including its design, artwork, code, animations, and all associated intellectual property rights, is owned by the Developer. These Terms do not grant you any rights to the Developer's trademarks, logos, or other brand features.

The name "ChronoFace" and associated visual design elements are the property of the Developer. Unauthorised use of these assets is prohibited.

 

11. Termination

These Terms remain in effect until terminated. Your rights under these Terms will terminate automatically and without notice from the Developer if you fail to comply with any provision of these Terms. Upon termination, you must cease all use of the App and uninstall it from all your devices.

The Developer reserves the right to discontinue the App or any part of it at any time without notice. Sections 7 (Disclaimer), 8 (Limitation of Liability), and 10 (Intellectual Property) will survive any termination.

 

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws. Any disputes arising under or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in the Developer's jurisdiction, unless otherwise required by your local consumer protection laws.

ChronoFace is built using open-source technologies. The following acknowledgements apply:
